Sub-Section 3.85.125 - Student Evaluations - Lab

Practical Tests (Psychomotor Assessments)

Practical skill evaluations will be developed by the administrative agency (i.e. American Heart Association, International Trauma Life Support, etc.) or developed by the instructor to evaluate established lesson objectives. All practical tests will be reviewed and approved by the medical director as needed.

Peer Evaluation and Retesting Policy

When a student is prepared to demonstrate mastery of a skill, the evaluation process typically follows these steps:

A student peer evaluates the skill for several iterations, documenting each attempt.
Once the student has successfully completed a certain number of attempts (as evaluated by their peer), they proceed to the next step.
An instructor evaluates the student’s performance. If the student fails during this evaluation, the following actions occur:

Both the student and the student peer evaluator are assigned new student peer evaluators.
They must repeat all their attempts with peers.
Finally, they undergo another evaluation with an instructor.
