Steps:
Take BSI precautions.
Explain the procedure to the patient (if conscious).
Assess distal pulse and motor and sensory functions. Your partner supports the injured limb. Place your arm through the splint to grasp the patient’s hand or foot.
Apply gentle traction while sliding the splint onto the injured limb.
Your partner inflates the splint by mouth. Assess distal pulse and motor and sensory functions.
Passing criteria:
Pass: At least 70% (? of ?) successfully completed above. Currently at 0% completed.
Fail.
Did not explain and reassure the patient to allow informed consent.
