Section 5.12 - Admission and Attendance

Steps required for admission are listed below. Some exceptions may apply.

  1. Complete Program Application Form. A Criminal History Consent Form along with application fee will be required to finalize the application.
  2. Applicants must be at least 17 years of age. Note: Students must be 18 years of age before they can attend clinical courses and interact with live patients. If clinicals are not required for the program, many state and national licenses will not be issued until the candidate is 18 years old.
  3. Applicants must have a High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or GED.
  4. Applicants must have a current Driver’s License.
  5. Space may be limited and could be on a first-come, first-serve basis. A point system could be utilized for student selection and include such criteria as answers to questions on the registration form, residency area, and score on an entrance exam. Further considerations may be at the discretion of the Program Director.
  6. In the event there are more applicants than space or slots for a particular course, applicant evaluation may be required. Refer to each course syllabus for details. Applicant evaluation may include but is not limited to:

  8. Students performing skills or clinical time on actual patients will be required to obtain a student ID at the clinical site. The clinical site may conduct a criminal background check to ensure no felonies and no drug convictions before issuing ID.
  9. Refer to Section 5.75 - Health and Safety for required vaccinations for in-class participation and patient contact activities.

Students who require special assistance should contact the Program Director or Lead Instructor as soon as possible. All efforts will be made to accommodate the needs of students.
