RAV-680 Anatomy and Physiology Course

Course Description

This course provides a basic study of the structure and function of the human body. Topics include a basic study of the body systems as well as an introduction to homeostasis, cells, tissues, nutrition, acid-base balance, and electrolytes. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the fundamental principles of anatomy and physiology and their interrelationships (NC Community Colleges, 2024).

Per NCOEMS Anatomy & Physiology Course Objectives, the A&P instructor must meet Souther Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for instructors (NCOEMS, 2020). Per SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines, faculty teaching at the associate’s degreee level, the instructor must have at least an associates degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline (SACSCOC, 2018).

Per NCOEMS, minimum course length is 96 hours, which must include 32 hours of lab (NCOEMS, 2020).
