Emphasis on the development of student knowledge and skills which enable them to recognize the signs and symptoms of both illness and injury along with proper procedures for basic life support emergency care.

According to the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP), the following is the description of the Emergency Medical Technician:

Life Changes During the EMT Program

During this program, students are highly encouraged not to make any other large life changes (i.e. get married, get divorced, move residences, change jobs, etc.). Additionally, in order to have enough time to prepare for and complete all the requirements of the program, a maximum workload of 36 hours per week is recommended. If the student’s overall score is less than 78%, the recommended workload is reduced to 24 hours and further reduced to 12 hours if the overall score is less than 70%.
