RAV-140 Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Course

This course provides the basic knowledge and skills necessary to perform infant, child, and adult CPR and to manage foreign body airway obstruction (NC Community Colleges, 2024).

Course Description

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). BLS is geared towards prehospital providers, like EMTs, paramedics, fire fighters, and in-facility hospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course. Emphasis is placed on triage, assessment, and proper management of emergency care. Upon completion, students should be able to perform the infant, child, and adult CPR (Combined course library, 2024; AHA, 2024).
