While working clinical hours, students may occasionally be exposed to communicable or other medical diseases. When performing clinical rotations or working with potentially infectious substances, students should take appropriate Body Substance Isolation (BSI) precautions. This may include (but is not limited to) gloves, eye shields, and gowns. If a student is exposed to a known case, he/she will be required to report this immediately to the instructor, preceptor, FTO, and/or clinical educator and seek necessary medical treatment.
“It is the policy of Raven Advisory, LLC to remain open during most periods of inclement weather” (Forbes, 2022). During periods of inclement weather that forces facility closure, the decision will be made by 08:30 AM.
Refer to Sub-Section 5.12.714 - Class Cancellation.
Students are not permitted to operate any vehicles while on clinical rotations. Students shall always ride in a seated position and wear a seat belt while the vehicle is in motion - this includes in the patient compartment in the back of the ambulance.
Students may operate vehicles only on closed courses as part of the required curriculum and skills assigned by instructors. Instructors must be present during all driving by students. When performing as an instructor or student, always operate vehicles safely and legally (Forbes, Company vehicle use exception to policy, 2023). No minors are to be in or transported in any Raven-owned vehicles. Smoking or any use of strong smells in Raven-owned vehicles is prohibited. Students shall always ride in a seated position and wear a seat belt while the vehicle is in motion - this includes in the patient compartment in the back of the ambulance.
All injuries and near misses shall be reported immediately to the lead instructor and program director. Once first aid is rendered (if needed), a decision shall be made by the instructors present and the injured person on appropriate medical care. It shall always be recommended that the injured person seek evaluation and treatment by a physician.
